Top Ergonomically Designed Office Kneeling Chairs
No one likes to have back pain while they’re trying to work, and if regular office chairs don’t do much for your back, there’s no harm in trying a kneeling chair. A quality designed Kneeling chair with Casters and Memory Foam can effectively prevent pain and pressure building up in the lower back and can even eliminate discomfort. With its memory foam seat and knee cushions, adjustable seating height, four smooth casters, and ergonomic design, getting a kneeling chair is worth a go.
Selecting a Kneeling Chair
Most prefer sitting in a regular office chair. Those who have bad backs or find better comfort while kneeling favor kneeling chairs for their home office or workplace. Kneeling chairs are a type of chair designed for sitting in a position with the thighs dropped at a 60 to 70 degree downwards angle with the body’s weight generally supported by the shins. If you’re looking for less lower back strain, perhaps a kneeling chair could be an optimal solution. For those who spend a lot of time in front of the computer or at their desk, back comfort is essential to stay focused on tasks throughout the day.

Work Smart Ergonomically Designed Knee Chair with Casters and Memory Foam

I love this chair mostly due to how comfortable it is while sitting in it. The chair features a memory foam seat cushion with cozy fabric upholstery, with a wide adjustment range. It is made of sturdy metal with a black finish and is ergonomically designed for maximum comfort. It doesn’t take up too much room, so you can either tuck it under your desk or stow it away in your closet for the next time you need it. Furthermore, this kneeling chair can support weight up to 200 pounds (although I found it holds a bit more than that) and has four casters so you can freely roll around your office.
Features and Specs
No one likes lower back pain that ends up lasting through the next morning, so it’s key to have a chair that suits your comfort levels. If you don’t like sitting in a regular 90-degree seating position, then a kneeling chair such as Office Star’s Work Smart Ergonomically Designed Knee Chair can be a viable option, especially if you have chronic back pains or injuries. The ample switched up design utilizes its memory foam knee cushions to be the center of gravity, making the shins the focal point for some of the body’s weight. Because of this weight shift, there’s not as much pressure on the spine, which can commonly result in high discomfort in regular chairs.
As mentioned before, the kneeling chair is not too big for it weighs about 16 pounds, and its size dimensions measure in at 25.2 x 17 x 20.5 inches. The chair is also adjustable and ideal for those between 5’1 and 6’3, so the average person shouldn’t have to worry about the chair being too small or too big. Along with the ample adjustments, its mobility is easy thanks to the chair’s four caster wheels. When you purchase the chair, you can either choose to assemble it yourself (which typically takes about an hour), or you can choose to have it already assembled by a professional before it arrives at your door.
Comparisons
While other kneeling chairs are similar to Office Star’s, they don’t seem to match up to its competitor. Compared to kneeling chairs like Boss Office Products’ Boss B248 Ergonomic Kneeling Stool, Office Star’s kneeling chair comes out on top in terms of comfort. While the Boss B248 chair has neat features such as a pneumatic gas lift and an adjustable height knee platform, its padding doesn’t live up to its claimed quality and comfort.
Another comparable product is Flash Furniture’s WL-SB-210-GG Mobile Wooden Ergonomic Kneeling Chair, which has similar features and specs to Office Star’s kneeling chair. The chair has a bit of a nicer aesthetic due to its natural wood frame finish, unlike Office Star’s kneeling chair, which has a metal finish, yet there are some minor engineering flaws, and the product does not seem to come with instructions.
One more related product is another Flash Furniture item, the Mobile Wooden Ergonomic Kneeling Posture Chair. This one is a bit different in design since it has a back to it, like a regular office chair, and it additionally reclines back. Yet even with this extra feature, I found in my analysis that it seems only to suit people of a certain height and that the wood frame is not of the best quality.
Of course, there are standard office chairs that are more ergonomic than other office chairs, but in my opinion, nothing beats a kneeling chair.
Cons
While Office Star’s Ergonomically Designed kneeling chair is highly rated and relatively popular, there were some minor issues found with the item that I observed in my research. If you have the seat at a particular height, the casters will have a hard time swiveling and will barely roll, making mobility while in the chair a bit difficult. Also, in terms of looks, the chair is not the best-looking thing in person, but this may be subjective.
As mentioned before, the seat cushion and knee cushions are made of memory foam. Although they’re comfortable, they’re not recommended for long periods of use without resting periods in between sitting. This is most likely due to the body’s weight shifting to the shins after a while. Furthermore, since the chair is on good casters, it might creep backward, and the sitter could find themselves leaning forward toward their desk. Additionally, the kneeling chair is not too fitting for anyone above 6’3 but is fine for anyone under.
